Best Things to Do in Pattaya

Pawintra Chuychart • October 6, 2026

Island beaches, remarkable temples, tropical gardens and legendary nightlife. Pattaya has far more to explore than its reputation might suggest.

Pattaya is packed with contrasts. One day can take you from a quiet beach on Koh Larn to an enormous wooden sanctuary, a hilltop viewpoint and a lively night market after sunset.

Here are some of the best things to do while you’re there.

Escape to Koh Larn

Just off the coast, Koh Larn is one of the easiest ways to swap Pattaya’s busy streets for clear water and sandy beaches.

Spend the day swimming, relaxing by the sea or exploring different beaches around the island. Boats run between Pattaya and Koh Larn, making it a popular day trip without requiring an overnight stay.

Visit the Sanctuary of Truth

The Sanctuary of Truth is one of Pattaya’s most extraordinary landmarks.

Rising beside the sea in North Pattaya, the enormous wooden structure is covered in intricate carvings inspired by Thai and Asian philosophical and religious traditions.

It’s part architecture, part art and very difficult to appreciate properly until you’re standing underneath it.

See the Big Buddha

Head to Wat Phra Yai on Pratumnak Hill to see Pattaya’s large golden Buddha statue.

A staircase decorated with naga serpents leads toward the temple, where you can explore the religious site and enjoy elevated views over the surrounding area.

Remember that this is an active Buddhist site, so dress respectfully when visiting.

Enjoy the View From Pratumnak Hill

For one of the classic views across the city, visit Pattaya Viewpoint on Pratumnak Hill.

From above, you can see the curved coastline of Pattaya Bay and the city stretching along the shore.

Late afternoon is particularly atmospheric as the light begins to soften over the Gulf.

Explore Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

A short trip south of Pattaya brings you to Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, a huge landscaped attraction filled with themed gardens and tropical plants.

It’s an easy half or full-day trip, especially if you want a break from beaches and central Pattaya.

Relax on Jomtien Beach

If central Pattaya Beach feels too busy, head south to Jomtien Beach.

The long coastline has a more relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. It’s an easy option for a slower beach day without leaving Pattaya altogether.

Wander Through a Night Market

Pattaya has several evening markets where food is half the reason to visit.

Browse Thai dishes, seafood, snacks, fruit and desserts while exploring local stalls and shopping for small souvenirs.

Instead of deciding what to eat beforehand, this is one of those occasions where pointing at whatever looks delicious is a perfectly respectable dinner strategy.

Experience Pattaya After Dark

Pattaya’s nightlife is famous for a reason.

Walking Street is the city’s best-known nightlife district, packed with bars, clubs, live music and entertainment after sunset.

If that isn’t your scene, Pattaya also has rooftop bars, beachfront venues, restaurants and more relaxed nightlife around Jomtien.

Spend a Day at a Water Park

Traveling with family or simply need a break from sightseeing?

The Pattaya area has large water parks with slides, pools and attractions that can easily fill an entire afternoon.

It’s particularly useful on those days when the temperature seems personally offended by your existence.

Discover Na Jomtien

Continue south beyond Jomtien and the atmosphere becomes noticeably quieter.

Na Jomtien is home to beachfront resorts, restaurants and a more relaxed stretch of coastline, making it worth exploring when you want some distance from central Pattaya.
